Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider, as you authorize. If you sign up with an email and password, your password is handled and stored securely by our authentication provider, Supabase, and is never visible to us in plain text.

Profile and preferences

Your language settings (the language you're learning, the language you want explanations in, and the app's display language) and, if you provide them, professional details such as your industry, job function, job title, and a description of your work. We use these to tailor answers when professional context is turned on.

Content you create

JustPhrase is built around content you provide to personalize your practice: the questions you ask and the resulting conversations, the situational context you add, the sentences, dialogues, and monologues you create or save, and your progress (for example, which sentences you've marked as mastered or still learning).

Subscription and purchase information

If you subscribe to Premium, your payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive your card or other payment details. We do receive information about your subscription, such as the plan you chose, its purchase, renewal, and expiration dates, whether it is in a free trial, and transaction identifiers, so that we can give you access to the features you paid for.

Feature usage

We count certain actions, such as how many questions you have asked, to apply the limits of the free plan.

Usage and device information

We may collect basic technical information needed to operate the Service, such as the app version, device type, and general error or crash information, so that we can keep the product working correctly.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• provide and maintain your account, and sync your progress across devices;
• generate answers and the sentences, dialogues, and monologues you practice with, based on the context and content you provide;
• generate spoken audio for practice;
• manage your subscription and apply the limits of the free plan; and
• contact you about your account when necessary, for example with sign-in emails.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to show you advertising.

Service providers we work with

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate JustPhrase, and share with each only the data it needs to do its job:

• Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication and account storage.
• Anthropic powers the answers, sentences, dialogues, and monologues we generate, based on your questions, the context you provide, and, when professional context is on, your profile details.
• ElevenLabs generates the spoken audio used for listening practice.
• RevenueCat manages subscriptions for our mobile apps. It receives your account identifier and your purchase and subscription information from Apple or Google, and tells us whether your subscription is active.
• Google and Apple authenticate you if you choose to sign in with them, and share your name and email with us as permitted by your account settings. If you subscribe, Apple or Google also processes your payment under its own privacy policy.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Data retention

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active, so that your progress and history remain available to you. If you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted as described below.

Your rights and account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data, including your sentences, dialogues, monologues, and progress, at any time and without contacting us:

• on mobile, go to Settings and tap Delete Account;
• on the web, go to Settings and select Delete Account.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription purchased through the App Store or Google Play; please cancel it in your store account settings to stop future charges.

You can also contact us to ask what data we hold about you, to correct it, or to request its deletion.

Data security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data with commercially reasonable safeguards.

Children’s privacy

JustPhrase is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
